We are looking for a motivated individual to join our growing team supporting a high-visibility program as a Software Engineer in Norfolk, VA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to the development, operation, and maintenance of software in a system, encompassing techniques and procedures often regulated in development process and with the purpose of improving the reliability and maintainability.

  • Establish software information and engineering requirements necessitated by the potential complexity of those software systems, containing millions of lines of code.

  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs; confer with users; study systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigate problem areas; follow the software development lifecycle.

  • Prepare and install solutions for specific technical problems and procedures, including knowledge, tools, and methods for software requirements, software design, software construction, software testing, and software maintenance tasks.

  • Improve operations and recommend changes to policies and procedures by relating the disciplines of software engineering with a continuum of disciplines like computer science, computer engineering, management, mathematics, project management, quality management, software ergonomics, and systems engineering.

  • Support and advise on a high-visibility operational planning continuum providing advanced technical knowledge and analysis of high-level functional system analysis, design, integration, documentation, training, and implementation in a professional planning system (MCPP, JOPES, APEX and JOPP) supporting the development and generation of capability.

  • Design and prepare technical reports, studies, and related documentation, make charts and graphs to record results, prepare and deliver presentations, training, and briefings, and present code as required by the project and tasks.

  • Support and attend (as required) professional exchanges, including in-progress reviews, quarterly command-level decision forums, and doctrinal reviews and conferences hosted by other services, higher headquarters, and other government agencies.

  • Support the sustainment of functional relationships with all service and Joint mission-related organizations.

  • Meet with clients on a consistent basis to inform, understand and clarify the specific requirements of the project and tasks as it progresses overtime.

  • Track task performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals and ensure timely reporting to customer and the Project Manager.

  • Continually develop yourself and your team (if assigned) and obtain certifications and licenses required for continued production on task.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Working with collaborative, virtual technology supporting operational business planning and execution.

  • Supporting major, multi-faceted programs with industry recognized, standard planning and execution techniques, systems and programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle and properly prioritize tasks and sub-tasks in a high-tempo, high-pressure environment relying on a high level of independent judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a high tempo, high stress environment independently and on a team interacting daily with midgrade officers and senior executive leaders.

  • Possess strong written and oral communication, organization, time management and problem-solving skills.

  • Process improvement and control.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Professional business, operational planning education, training, certification and experience.

  • Experience supporting joint operational requirements, force management and force generation.

  • Prior military and/or government agency experience.



  • Education:

o Required: BS in systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, or other related technical discipline.

o Desired: Master's Degree from an accredited university in systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, or other related technical discipline.

  • Experience: At least five (5) years of experience developing software programs, applications, and software engineering concepts; leading and/or working within software development life cycle; knowledge of database concepts, server maintenance, error log analysis, and code performance analysis.
