Description

Applicants must be able to connect, install, and remove wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard ships utilizing blueprints, wiring diagrams, and test equipment.Applicants must also be able to coordinate and direct subordinates in the completion of one or more assigned task, provide timely feedback to the Lead or Task Supervisor regarding milestones in the project schedule; communicate verbally or in writing all deviations identified in the specified scope of work.Effectively communicate with other trades to coordinate scheduled work; Ensure all work activities by subordinates is performed in accordance with safety, quality, and industrial standards.Must be able to install cables in the overhead and underneath false decks according to work specifications.Must be able to troubleshoot and repair simple and complex circuits.Must be able to hookup lighting, power, and fuse panels; controllers and connection boxes.Must be able to use test equipment properly to identify voltage, ring-out and troubleshoot cables and equipment.Determine cable routing and overcrowded transits prior to installation.Determine the kind and quantity of materials required to accomplish the work without undue waste.

Qualifications

Must possess a mastery of blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and symbols.Must have a thorough understanding in electrical installation standards, processes and materials - EPISM.Must be experienced in the opening, packing, closing, and testing of MCT's / MCP's.Must be able to hookup simple and complex circuits to include the use of shielded cables.Must have experience in the hookup of transformers, lighting and distribution panels, switchboards, fuse boxes, connection boxes, controllers, receptacles, lighting fixtures, and other electrical and electronic equipment.Must understand cable tagging requirements and wire marking terminology.Must be experienced in the use of test equipment required in order to test and repair electrical and electronic systems.Must be experienced in the grounding and bonding of electrical equipment.Must be able to effectively utilize workers assigned to accomplish tasks and work with little or no supervision from Lead or Task Supervisors.Must be able to determine the quantity and materials required to accomplish the work without undue waste.Must be able to perform other related duties as assigned and be able to fulfill job requirements as directed by management.Must be 18 or older.Must be a US Citizen.Drug screen and Background Investigation required. Must possess a High School diploma or GED;US Navy Electrical / Electronic A or C schools or equivalent electrical trade schools preferred. VSRA Safety Training; OSHA 10 Hour Training
